As this is my first post, i feel that a relatively unknown band is probably appropriate for a relatively unfamiliar blog. I stumbled across Cowboys Aren’t Indians in much the same way that i stumble across most of the bands that i intend to feature in this musically focused blog, that being through myspace.
There are a number features of this band that draw me to them. I’m not sure whether it is the odd collection of pop-culture bands that they list to be influential on their myspace, or the interesting focus of some of their songs (listen to Jr. Jazz), but this band seems to be the creator of more than it cares to reveal. This is a band that seems to reminisce on the mastery of the bands that make up the American Football tree. I guess in that sense one could encapsulate them in the math-rock movement. But there is more to the dynamics of this band. Perhaps its the sparing use of dynamics, or in-calculated movements of the guitar, but this band has seemed to have drawn from a little bit of everything.

I find it difficult to discern what the future holds for a band such as this. My only source of connection with them has been through myspace, which, let’s face it, never allows quite the rendition needed for one to fully assimilate with a band. From what i’ve heard, this band has a future.♦
