Meet Me In St. Louis

Posted by: breakorbit on: April 18, 2008

damn shame that these guys decided to disband. Their first full length “With The Right Kind Of Eyes” blew away any expectation of mediocrity that i may have preconceived. When “Variations on Swing” hit, i was blown away. Not only can these guys play guitar like war-machines, they keep it together in such away that you can’t help but feel that the songs progress with perfection. You want them to hit a note, they hit the note hard.

I unfortunately never got see this band live which is extremely disappointing as i have heard that they do a very tidy performance. I hoped that after “Variations…” they’d go on a bit of a European tour, but alas. I really hope to see these guys going off in their directions. This talent should not go to waste. Download of “With The Right Kind Of Eyes” available below.

That EP is callled “St. Louis”, right?

Also, a couple of the song titles aren’t correct.

actually no, the name of the album that i attached is, in full, “And With The Right Kind Of Eyes You Can Almost See The High-Water Mark – The Place Where The Wave Finally Broke And Rolled Back” but has come to be known as “With The Right Kind Of Eyes. I was under the impression that this was the EP, but there must be an album before it. I thought i had the song titles right. I ripped it using Windows Media Player, so it automatically does the songs, which could be the problem. Which song titles are wrong?

I don’t know, now that I look into it. Their MySpace page only has “Variations…” and the EP and they call it the St. Louis EP. The tracklist is:
1. We need to act like we don’t need this shit, then they give us the shit for free
2. The kid who had his ear slapped by the druggist
3. Why thankyou, Suzie
4. What happened to you Dylan? you used to be someone I could trust
5.You said your finger was a gun

So, there must be another album.

I went and had a quick look at the CD case and it said that this album was released under the label function records, so i popped over to their site and found this:

Which is the CD i mentioned. The tracklist, however, is exactly the same as the tracklist you just listed. Maybe they call it the St. Louis EP for short? I don’t know.. the plot thickens.

Hey There

Welcome to Awkward Ears. This is a blog that is musically focused on bands that are technical, angular, awkward and fucking awesome. I buy records, CDs, etc. listen to them, and decide whether I like them. Then, if I do like them, I write about my experience and share the music. If you feel that you'd like my uploads taken off, please let me know. I don't want anyone hurt :) Be My Friend, because i have none at http://www.last.fm/user/breakorbit Follow me on twitter: http://www.twitter.com/awkwardears Just like a politician. Enjoy.
