The Great Eskimo Hoax

Posted by: breakorbit on: February 14, 2009

Awww Yeahhh.
If you enjoyed that last post, then you will certainly enjoy this post. I’ve been trying to track down these guys music for a good year. Perhaps i wasn’t trying very hard. Apparently they were only being distributed by a label in Japan called Rallye (knock around there, they have some pretty interesting music). But anyway, all beside the point.

The point is this band displays some truly dynamic music. Having been around for a number of years now, The Great Eskimo Hoax have been creating music that has only now started to grab the limelight and appraisal of independent music lovers. Before Foals, even before The Edmund Fitzgerald this band could be said to have pioneered the soft angular rock that permeates the UK at the moment.

The Great Eskimo Hoax depict a very strong melodically demonstrating the absolute power of effective guitar “noodling” and a effects pedal. I think their greatest strength musically however is their ability to play off each other: guitar off guitar, guitar off drums, drums off glockenspiel, etc. The vocals are good too, harmonized during a slow breakdown, poignant through versus and always relevant. I do really hope that enjoy this band as much as i do.

Probably no need to say this but please show this band as much support as you can. Here’s a little taster, a more recent track with the help of Foals front man.
